Paddle and camp on Shell Key in Pinellas County

Shell Island just a short paddle away from the beautiful Fort DeSoto Park in Pinellas County. A great place to get away for a day or a weekend. Dogs and alcohol are no longer allowed on the beach due to misuse.

The crescent-shaped beach at the inlet on the south side of the island is a popular hangout for daytrippers and fishermen with charters. A permit from the county is required for overnight camping.

More avid partiers can be found on the inlet on north side of the island, as well as several waterfront restaurants.
